Evan Davies, honors senior at the Academy of Art in S.F., is back by popular demand…. In this class, children will learn to draw what they see, not what they think they see!  We will draw from life (objects in the studio) and photo-graphs as we learn about shape, proportion, and how to use value (shading) to create form and volume.  We will investigate the rules of perspective, as you draw buildings or other objects of your choice.  You will learn about using various drawing tools, and how to shade, cross hatch, use thick and thin line, and much more!  There will be handouts to take home so you can practice what you have learned.  You will learn how to mat your drawings for display and safe-keeping.  Some supplies required.
For the adult class, Evan will demonstrate drawing techniques and you will draw from still life objects and photographs.  Use various values to create form, volume and depth in your drawings.  Discover new uses for drawing tools and learn some of the tricks of the ‘pros’ to create accurate, realistic drawings.  Evan will demonstrate and you will practice one and two point perspective, as you learn about horizons, vanishing points, convergence and other aspects of perspective that may have been holding you back.  Evan will provide handouts from his college texts and other sources.   If requested, the basics of portrait drawing may be covered.  Returning students may work on more advanced projects.
A Saturday make up class will be scheduled once during this session for students who miss a class.
Private and semi-private classes may also be scheduled.
